Back to Beverley
WED 06 SEP 2010:
Where did the summer go? At 0800 hours we entered the lock at Ferriby Sluice for the final time, the sailing season is over and we are taking COMRADE back to her winter moorings at Beverley Beck. Dave Parker was skipper for the day as Steve Shone was in the first week of a new job.

The trip down the River Humber was misty and very wet in the early stages, visibility varied with each heavy rain shower that passed over, but by the time we had passed New Holland the cloud began to lift a little. We reached Saltend by about 0930 and was at anchor in Paull Bight by 1000 to wait for the turn of the tide. As we waited weather fronts came overhead, the wind strengthened but gradually clearer blue skies came towards us from the east.

We weighed anchor about 1245 and set off for the River Hull, as we turned into the river at Sammy's Point the strong winds dropped and a warm sunny afternoon trip to Beverley was in store. We were at the lowest point of the tide all the way up river and with steady progress managed to clear under every bridge, although Ennerdale was a little tight. We arrived at the lock at about 1730 and were moored up about 1800.
